USC Trojans Finish #3

College Football Rankings

Has anyone in any previous year seen a fall and rise in the college football College Football Rankings such as the USC Trojans Football team in 2016 culminating in the most incredible Rose Bowl finish since 2005? We went from the embarrassment of 2015 and Steve Sarkisian through the disappointment of the Holiday Bowl and all the lack of interest in the program internally to a New AD in Lynn Swan a new Head Coach in Clay Helton and a revamped coaching staff top to bottom. The great vibes coming out of the Spring, Summer and Fall camps leading up to September 3rd in Arlington TX against the reigning champs from Alabama. The complete disappointment in Game one a win against a week program in Utah State at home and two losses to Stanford and Utah to open the PAC-12 season. After four weeks we are sitting in dead last and had a new coach focused and staying his course as designed prior to the season.

I wake up today and after watching a great National Championship game (fight) between Alabama and Clemson and the passing of the torch to Clemson as new reigning champs of CFB. I wake up and read (above) that a three loss USC Football team who was pummeled by Alabama is now sitting at #3 just under Alabama. What in the world is going on with the ranking Gods?

I can tell you what is going on and it’s USC is back. Yes, we are losing key members of our team from 2016 like everyone else is but we are well stocked and now a renewed sense of trust with our coaching staff that they can coach the kids up and they can manage a major program under the pressures of it all. This is a staff that had to prepare a team starting week 5 with the mindset of lose and go home. It’s over. Each pre game speech starting and ending on this note. We cannot lose. We cannot make any mistakes in our preparation.

You know what? They did it. The proved the sanctions are over. They proved that this staff and this team now fully loaded and growing one recruit at a time is well prepared for the upcoming season with a fearless and amazing QB-1 in Sam Darnold. The media loves to hate the Trojans. It’s something the school has fed off of for decades. We are SC. We Fight On!
