Abbott Lockwood Class of 2027: A Rising Star in Football and Track with Unmatched Dedication and Academic Excellence

Abbott Lockwood stands out as a remarkable athlete whose achievements on the football field and track are matched only by his commitment to academic success. As a key player in the 2025 season, he is focusing on next season while visualizing his next level of play in 2027. Abbott has earned recognition for his outstanding performance as a SLOT/DB, while also excelling in track and maintaining high academic standards. His story is one of hard work, discipline, and a clear vision for the future.

This season, I was selected as a Unanimous 1st Team All-Conference Offense 4-A League 1 North for our Back-to-Back and undefeated 4-A North League Champion Monarch HS Coyotes in Louisville, CO. I also achieved Academic All-State Honorable mention.

I am a 2025 two-way starter (averaging 70 total snaps per game) at H/Slot/DB and averaged 13 yards per reception (219 yards) with 2 receiving TD’s and 15 yards per carry (420 yards) and six rushing TD’s as a H/Slot. As a DB, I accumulated 33 tackles, 6 PBU’s, 1 INT, 1 FF, and 2 TFL.

This was my first season at the H/Slot position in our spread offense, where I hoped to use my elite speed, acceleration, and unselfish blocking, which resulted in 21 knockdown blocks in the run/pass game.

I ran a 10.88 100m this past year (2024) as a sophomore, just missing the automatic state qualifying time of 10.87, but was still honored to earn a spot on the All-State Second Team in Colorado. Our 4 x 100 relay team set a school record of 41.92 and qualified for the Class 5-A relay.

Beyond football, I have a strong commitment to community service, volunteering with Special Olympics, and actively participating in my church youth group. Academically, I maintain a 3.8 GPA with two honors classes.

I am fortunate to come from a family with a rich football legacy. My dad, Scott Lockwood, was a multi-selection 1st team High School All-American RB who set Colorado's all-time rushing record in 1987. He holds the Fairview HS (Boulder) 100m record at 10.54. He earned All-Pac-10 honors as an RB and KR at USC and played four seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the New England Patriots in 1992.

Shout Out from Coach Kyle Pischke, Monarch High School

“Abbott is a standout athlete whose speed and natural football IQ immediately separate him from his peers. He processes the game quickly, anticipates plays with maturity beyond his age, and consistently puts himself in position to succeed. Just as impressive as his athletic ability is the kind of kid he is.

Abbott is humble, hardworking, and coachable. Abbott responds to feedback with enthusiasm, shows up every day ready to improve, and elevates everyone around him with his attitude and team-first mindset. Any program would be fortunate to have an athlete and teammate of his character.”
