USC v UCLA Week

Not quite the perfect game to figure out the Championship game, with UCLA losing this past weekend, but this game will lose absolutely nothing in terms of excitement and focus. The battle for Los Angeles via Pasadena and the world's greatest Bowl Stadium in the Rose. While GameDay chose to go somewhere else, this game will be exactly what we had hoped for. The Trojans come into the game with all eyes on their ability to beat a tough team. UCLA is clearly a tough team, and although they faltered to Arizona last week, this team is just as capable of finishing strong with a victory over the Trojans.

As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast there", the Trojans are the ones coming in with the chip, and the USC players are dealing with the CFB world questioning their SOS all week long. This is nothing new. As if the Trojans set their conference schedule. Look at next year! It gets even better for the last year in the PAC-10. The Trojans will need to have the practice week of their lives. They need to rise up and take back the bell and win this for Travis Dye and themselves proving to all who doubt that this team is who they believe they are. Championship bound.

To beat UCLA, you have to stop three players. Tight end Bobo is a challenge for any defense as he has the agility, speed, and size to take over the field. Then there is DTR he is both a weapon and a challenge for the Bruins, as he hasn't shown he can handle adversity well. You would think after 8 years in college, he could be the mature one in the room, but this is a serious flaw in his game mentally. Physically he can create, and he can throw well when not pressured. Lastly, the one you have to put a plan in place for, and it happens to be a huge challenge for the Trojan Defense, is Zach Charbonnet.

Charbonnet will get his yards, but you cannot let him go off for 150 plus, and having said that, he is very capable of doing just that. He is a top 5 running back in all of college football, and coach Grinch will need to put together a wrap defense on Zach to keep him from getting the entire Bruin team amped up.

3 Keys to the Trojan's victory:

  1. Keep the Bruins under 150 running

  2. Keep DTR under pressure

  3. Don't lose sight of Bobo

My prediction is a USC Victory but hard-fought. Final score USC 39 UCLA 24

Fight On
