Two ADs join NCAA Football Oversight Committee – FootballScoop

Two new names have joined the NCAA Football Oversight Committee, as Temple AD Patrick Kraft and Georgia Southern AD Tom Kleinlein are now part of the group.

The 19-member committee oversees all governance issues regarding Division I football, managing the bowl approval process for FBS and overseeing the FCS playoffs. From the NCAA’s official Oversight Committee page:

The Football Oversight Committee will ensure that appropriate oversight of football for both the Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision is maintained; enhance the development of the sport and make recommendations related to regular-season and postseason football. The committee will prioritize enhancement of the student-athlete educational experience (academically and athletically), and in doing so, promote student-athletes’ personal growth and leadership development. It will work in conjunction with appropriate governance entities to provide solutions to issues impacting the health and safety of football student-athletes.

Membership is comprised of one AD from all 10 FBS conferences along with select student-athletes, conference commissioners, faculty reps, associate ADs and ADs at the FCS level. Kraft will represent the American, while Kleinlein replaces Texas State AD Larry Teis as the Sun Belt’s rep.

Buffalo AD Mark Alnutt has come aboard as the MAC’s rep, leaving only Arizona State AD Ray Anderson, MAC commissioner Jon Steinbrecher, Central Arkansas AD Brad Teague and the faculty rep and student-athlete slots to be replaced before the 2019 season begins. Teague, the faculty rep (SMU’s Paul Rogers), and the student-athletes (UCLA’s Austin Roberts) and West Virginia’s (Gary Jennings) were non-voting members.

West Virginia AD Shane Lyons will remain as chairman for the 2019 season.

Kraft and other newcomers will remain on the committee through June 2023.
